Initial Assessment
Jody and client will start with a free initial assessment session where they get to know each other. Jody will ask questions to understand the client's presenting concerns, personal history, current life circumstances, and choice for therapy intervention. This helps in establishing a therapeutic alliance and creating a treatment plan tailored to the client's needs.
Establishing Goals
Following the initial assessment, Jody and the client will work together to create embodied and realistic goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. These goals will provide direction for the sessions and support the client in deepening connection with their body, enhancing self-regulation, and fostering a greater sense of safety and presence.
Exploration and Insight
During ongoing sessions, the therapist supports the client in exploring the interplay between body sensations, emotions, and thoughts. Using somatic awareness and mindful inquiry, the therapist helps the client develop deeper insight into their embodied experiences and patterns of behaviour.
Embodiment & Integration
Clients are guided in developing body-based tools such as grounding, breathwork, and mindful awareness to regulate the nervous system, manage emotional states, and foster safety and connection within the body.
Embodied Self Compassion
Somatic therapy helps clients develop self-awareness and self-acceptance by tuning into bodily sensations and emotional experiences with curiosity and care. Through validation and body-based practices, clients learn to replace self-criticism with compassion and cultivate an embodied sense of confidence and worthiness.
Progress Review
Along the therapeutic process, Jody and the client consistently reflect on progress toward the agreed upon goals. As the client deepens their body awareness and regulation, the treatment plan may be adapted to meet their evolving needs, supporting ongoing growth, integration, and healing.
